The WSC-SD Focus Meeting on ESD

All applicants that have been accepted to the meeting have been informed and they have received their invoices. If you have been accepted and can join the meeting, but still haven’t received an invoice, please contact the organizing committee. All participants that will receive funding from CSS have been informed of that decision. This means that if you’ve applied for funding and haven’t received an email saying that your application for funding have been granted, then you will not received any funding and will have to pay the conference fee yourself.
General information
Chalmers Students for Sustainability (CSS) and the World Student Community for Sustainable Development (WSC-SD) will host a focus meeting at Chalmers in October 2009 on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) from a student perspective. The focus meeting will bring together representatives from the different communities, partner communities and individual members of the WSC-SD.
Schedule
The conference will take place the 4th-7th of October at Chalmers University, in the city of Göteborg, Sweden. Representatives from all the WSC-SD member SC’s will also have the opportunity to attend a pre-meeting from the 2nd – 4th of October. There is also a possibility to attend a one day capacity building workshop on October 8th.
Background and aim
The aim of the conference is to let students from all the different WSC-SD communities and also other partner communities come together and discuss their views on ESD. This means that the focus of the meeting will be placed on workshops where the participants can discuss different approaches on ESD and how students and student communities can improve the education in sustainable development.
The aim of the focus meeting is also to produce a document that states the WSC-SD’s view on ESD. This document will then be published as the WSC-SD’s policy on ESD where the outcomes of the different workshops will be presented. This document can then be used by local SC’s to promote ESD in their home universities. The document will also be presented to the organizers of the Engineering Education for Sustainable Development conference (EESD10) at Chalmers in October 2010.
The World Student Community for Sustainable Development (WSC-SD) and Chalmers Students for Sustainability (CSS) see this conference as a great opportunity to make the voice of students from all over the world heard and their ideas recognized.

Application and fee
The application is now open and you can find out more about applying in the application pages. The fee for attending the focus meeting is 100 € and that includes participation in the meeting, accomodation and food during the meeting.
