The Realistic Side of the World – Sustainable Development and the Role of Economic and Political Institutions
Student Summit for Sustainability (S3) – Annual Meeting 2009 of WSC-SD
January 25 – February 1, 2009 in Zurich (ETH) / Kreuzlingen, Switzerland
This year the Student Summit for Sustainability (S3) – the Annual Meeting of the World Student Community for Sustainable Development (WSC-SD) – was held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Alliance for Global Sustainability (AGS) in Zurich and Kreuzlingen. Organized by project21, the S3 gave its participants a better understanding of today’s economic and political institutions in relation to sustainable development. Students and activists from all over the world gathered to attend the one-week long S3. This convention offered the various participants great opportunities not only to gain a deeper understanding of today’s challenges to sustainability, but also to share their experiences, discuss their projects and ideas, create innovative concepts, form new local and international partnerships, participate in strategic planning activities of the WSC-SD, make new friends and learn more about the many different and exciting cultures represented at the event. The summit lived from the contributions of the participants, but our biggest thanks go to Catherine Lippuner and all the members of project21 who made this amazing event possible.
