Ambassadors
Ambassadors are responsible for promoting the WSC-SD within their region, identifying potential new members (both SCs and IMs) and representing the WSC-SD in general.
Latin America: David Alejandro Huertas Bernal
David is now working in his Masters thesis; the research deals with Opportunities for Brazilian producers derived from sustainable production of biofuels. He follows the masters program Management and Economics of Innovation at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. David is an engineer in Agro Industry Production from La Sabana University in Bogotá, Colombia. In previous years he worked as consultant, trainer and project manager in subjects related to agro entrepreneurial development, food safety and certification schemes. He has also taken part in various working groups for the development of food policies in his country.
Asia: Rizwan Mohammed Shamim
R
izwan is a student of Bachelor in Economics in BRAC Univeristy, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Besides working with Oikos Dhaka since January 2007, he has worked for AIESEC at BRAC University during the year 2007-2008. Rizwan took part in Model WTO 2008, titled ‘Trade and Sustainability’, and coordinated several local events including the Eco-Tourism Campaign, the Tree Plantation Program and the Workshop on AIDS with his Oikos Dhaka team. Rizwan also writes in the local newspaper and has written on ‘The Role of Non-Profit Organizations in Developing a Sustainable World’. As ambassador for Asia of WSC-SD, Rizwan wants to promote the organization to existing student communities in Asia and also to active individuals. Rizwan also plays the guitar and the ‘baashi’ (Bangladeshi flute).
Africa: Nickson Otieno
Otieno is a sixth (final) year bachelor of architecture and building science student at the University of Nairobi. He is currently concluding his thesis that develops a theoretical framework for the Planning and Design of Correctional Facilities in Kenya as he develops his final design project: “Lang’ata Women’s Correctional Center”. Besides his academics, Otieno is currently serving as the President – Students for Global Sustainability – University of Nairobi, Chairman – University Bible Fellowship, Nairobi chapter and the founding Director of Hope Educational Initiative. Otieno is interested in employing urban design principles and construction technologies that are durable yet renewable and sustaining. He is uniquely inspired and actively engaged in youth advocacy and action for sustainable development and leadership. He is committed to honest pursuit and application of knowledge for sustainable development, especially within the developing economies.
North America / Europe: Aaron Thom

AGS-Summit Liaison: Yoshimasa Takahashi
Yoshimasa is currently studying his Masters in Graduate Program in Sustainability Science (GPSS) at the University of Tokyo. He completed his Bachelors in International Relations from State University of New York at Geneseo. His current research focuses on the analysis of the material flow, especially PET bottle, and its most sustainable utilization. He is also an active member in AGS University of Tokyo Student Community and is working with AGS UTSC for collaborative activities in AGS Annual Meeting in Tokyo, 2010.
