Chasing the energy devil.
In order to establish a more sustainable way of living, a major factor is the reduction of our energy use. This is where the “Energie-WG” project comes into the game. The core of the project is an online quiz designed for people that live in rented apartments and/or do flat sharing e.g. in living communities. In the quiz questions to the energy behaviour are asked, e.g. are your electrical appliances often on stand-by, do you put a lid on the pan when you’re cooking etc. The answers are then rated and if you get enough points you receive a certificate by mail. At the end of the questionnaire you also receive a feedback on where you could still improve in terms of energy saving with useful tips how to reach that goal.
There were articles published in several internal (ETH) and national newspapers, which was a great publicity. Thanks to the sponsoring of EWZ (electricity company of Zurich) the design of the website and flyers etc. could be outsourced to a professional design company.
In April 2008 a big competition was launched for “labelled” living communities with attractive prices.
