Student Summit 2010 – Climate Change in South America
Local impacts of climate change and innovative community solutions: a Colombian Case Study
This year’s Student Summit for Sustainability – S3 – will enable students from industrialised countries to better understand the realities of climate change in developing countries. At the same time we will enhance the activity of students from Latin America in the field of SD and strengthen their role in an international student network that is today creating innovative answers to the environmental, social and economic challenges we are facing.
Both preparation for and participation in the summit will actively contribute to capacity building of students around the world by sharing information, working on case studies, having international experiences, encountering new approaches and perspectives, by creating new ideas on sustainability issues and strengthening student collaboration between developed and developing countries.
Sub themes: Energy and development, Adaptation, Mitigation, Education, Training and Public Awareness and Cooperation for Sustainability.
The participants will discuss the following questions: What is the situation of Climate Change in your country and How is it currently being implemented? (Structures, achievements, challenges) Which examples of good practice related with climate change could you share? What are some lessons learned so far? What could be your group and individual engagement for the climate change? What could be your joint project after the Student Summit?
