oikos and the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) reward the best student-driven sustainable campus project – with a trip to oikos Winter School and the World Expo in Shanghai, China. Apply till April 12!
From students for students, the award is given to outstanding student projects or campaigns that contribute to a sustainable campus and encourage fellow students to start their own initiatives to make a difference. The award covers student-initiated and -run projects that make studying, living, and working at the university more sustainable. Background
The award was initiated by oikos International and is sponsored by the oikos Foundation, an international student organization with thirty chapters based at universities around the world. The projects or campaigns may be supported by external funds, but projects must have been initiated and managed by students.
The student award is run jointly with the university awards of the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN). The winner will receive a sponsored invitation to attend the oikos Winter School and the award ceremony at the World Expo in Shanghai, China, as part of the “Better Campus, Better City: Learning for a Sustainable Future“ meeting on July 27, 2010.
The first-round selection is done by a group of former oikos Student Award winners. In the second round, projects will be judged by the official ISCN Award Jury. We are happy that oikos PhD Fellow Patricia Mesquita was selected to be a member of that jury, bringing in her expertise and judgment to select the final university and student winners.
