Department of Science and Technology in South Africa has made great vision. The 10-year innovation plan builds on the foundations laid by the National Research and Development (R&D) Strategy adopted in 2002.
Key action for comprise the implementation framework is
* national monitoring system (using data from the Research Information Management System – RIMS) will provide a scorecard on annual investments and inputs complemented by an indication of the cumulative impact of the investments and inputs. An independent evaluation of the impact of the Global Change grand challenge will be undertaken at the end of every three-year cycle (March 2011, March 2014, March 2017);
They are trying to build a global database on research initiatives that asks for students and researchers to help by uploading their details to this database.
